Support the candidates
Friday, February 8, 2013
The race has begun.
Candidates have thrown their hats into the ring, hoping to serve you on a board, as a trustee, a clerk or moderator. There are only two contested positions this year – two candidates are running for one seat on the School Board and three are vying for one seat as library trustee. Though trustee is an important job, the seat on the School Board will get more attention.
Kudos to those who run for office. They take the bull by the horns, greet people, present their philosophies and hope for your support. Winning then becomes the easy part, because after they garner a seat, they have to fulfill their promises – and in a small community there’s no place to hide.
We commend their bravery and urge you to listen to their platforms, meet them at the transfer station and watch them on BCTV. May the best candidates win.
We’d also like to acknowledge Ryk Bullock for his many years as School District moderator. Bullock decided not to run for another term after serving the district for about 40 years. As the town grew, so did the challenges of providing smooth and confidential elections. As assistant moderator and moderator, for the town and the School District, he served his hometown well.
