Oh, no, not snow
Friday, February 15, 2013
Yes, it snowed. Yes, there was a lot of snow.
But did it require the kind of wall-to-wall coverage with which we were inundated Saturday on all four Boston TV stations plus Channel 9?
We knew it was snowing, we knew it was bad, but come on, folks, how often did we have to see a shot of some place on the Cape or some road in Manchester? We get it. Snow. Lots. Right.
Radio, particularly NPR, reported on the storm but not constantly. NPR went with its regular program but with consistent and helpful storm updates.
But for television, this was the event of the century, the biggest event since the last biggest event, which was probably the snow storm of 2003.
And the station that kept the chart on biggest snow storms in Boston? Wow, would the storm of 2013 crack the top six? The top five? Oh, no, not the top four!
Yes, it snowed.
Yes, there was a lot of snow.
But most of the snow was coming through the TV screen.
