Spring is almost here, really
Friday, March 22, 2013
The calendar is telling us it’s spring but someone should tell Old Man Winter the time has come for him to rest until next year. Many of us are tired of the snow, boots, hats and mittens, and walking as if the ground was about to crumble beneath our feet. Falling on ice would not be a good thing, especially for us older folk. Remember when slipping and sliding on ice was fun?
But, there is hope. Listen carefully to the sound of chirping birds and look beyond the white landscape as robins, titmice and chickadees scurry from tree to tree crafting their nests.
So, take a deep break because spring – the real spring when tulips blossom and jackets are stored away – is within our reach.
As the saying goes: When March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb. We’re hoping it holds true this year.
Now, if we can just keep the deer and chipmunks away from those tulips ....
