Bedford School Oboard

Thursday, February 11, 2010

To the Editor:

The teachers union and the Bedford School Board have determined that pay increases are due for school employees. Some have taken umbrage. Please remember the board consists of our duly elected representatives and, as such, are serving our best interest as evident by their continued re-election. The issues may be difficult for all to understand, so the best course of action is to follow their lead and vote accordingly.

Additionally, we taxpayers need to stop asking the board pesky questions that interfere with the meeting agenda and, at times, cause some members to show irritation. All this accomplishes is to waste time and make the board’s job more difficult.

As was postulated in the recent deliberation session, the average income in Bedford is $100,000. Those who can afford the tax increase have a responsibility to reach back and help those school employees who are behind us. Those who do not favor or cannot afford the higher taxes should remember New Hampshire has towns with lower tax rates.

Support the board and pay the increase – it is the patriotic thing to do.
