Friday, August 16, 2013

A New Boston man is in hot water after being arrested by Bedford police twice in the same day for allegedly driving under the influence.

Officers from the Bedford Police Department responded around 7:07 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 to a report of a hit and run accident at the intersection of New Boston Road and Lindahl Road.

Upon arrival to the scene, police investigated the cause of the crash and determined the operator of the suspect vehicle to be impaired and under the influence of drugs.

The vehicle operator, Brian Burke, 28, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and felony possession of a controlled drug. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail.

Later the same day, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Bedford police responded to a complaint of a vehicle driving erratically and eventually striking a vehicle at the intersection of Route 114 and Route 101.

The operator of the vehicle in question was again Burke, operating a different vehicle, police said.

Officers investigated the accident and Burke was subsequently charged with an additional count of driving while intoxicated, as well as breach of bail conditions.

In light of the additional charges, Burke was held on $1,500 cash bail and transported to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections. He was arraigned in court Aug. 9.
