Good Samaritan Awards to recognize individuals

Pastoral Counseling Services, of Manchester, has announced the 2012 Good Samaritan Awards honorees. These distinguished individuals will be recognized Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the 2012 Good Samaritan Awards Banquet at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford.

The cocktail reception will begin at 5 p.m., followed by welcome and dinner service at 6 p.m. Opening remarks and the presentation of awards will begin at 7 p.m.

For the past 17 years, Pastoral Counseling Services has hosted this celebration, which brings together six segments of the community and honors an individual in each category who has gone above and beyond in his or her contributions to make a positive impact on the greater community.

This year’s honorees include: Business & Industry – David Nixon, Esq., Nixon, Vogelman, Barry, Slawsky & Simoneau, PA; Education – Sgt. Brian N. O’Keefe, Manchester Police Department, Manchester Police Athletic League Coordinator; Media & the Arts – Jody Reese, publisher of the Hippo Press; Medicine & Healing – Ann Smith (posthumously), Easter Seals of NH; Religion – Sister Jacqueline Verville, Holy Cross Family Learning Center; Rising Star – Diane Larochelle, executive director of Nikki’s Dream.

Proceeds from the Good Samaritan Awards Banquet will assist individuals and families who lack the financial means necessary to secure counseling services, as well as supporting programs and services that meet the ever-changing needs of the community.
