CareGivers seeks donations for Holiday Hopes gifts

Sunday, November 18, 2012

At the CareGivers, volunteers serve seniors all year long, offering transportation, support and groceries as well as kindness and hope. During the holiday season, seniors often need that kindness and hope more than ever.

To help meet this special need, the CareGivers invite the community to join them in delivering a special gift to their clients over the holidays. Through their Holiday Hopes program, they match a client’s holiday gift wish with a volunteer looking to spread some holiday cheer. The wishes are simple: perhaps a knitted scarf, a warm throw, a book of stamps or an assortment of tea.

Contact the CareGivers office to select a client wish off the Holiday Hopes tree. They will help you pick an item that a client wants or needs. CareGivers will mail a gift tag with all the information volunteers need. Return the unwrapped items in a gift bag with the tag attached, and they will deliver your present.

CareGivers is based out of Bedford and Nashua. The CareGivers Inc. mission is to assist the frail, elderly and disabled so they may maintain their independence and dignity through the spirit of volunteerism. The agency provides nonmedical support to members of the Greater Manchester and Nashua areas. If you are interested in participating in the Holiday Hopes program, email William Duryea at will@caregiversnh.org or call 622-4948, ext 31. Gifts will not be due to the CareGivers office until Thursday, Nov. 29.
