Bedford Lions Club kicks off annual scholarship program

Friday, January 31, 2014

The Bedford Lions Club announces its 44th annual memorial scholarship program.

This year, two tuition scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded. The awards, like last year, are funded by a donation from former scholarship recipient and businessman, Gary Chartrand. They are based upon financial need and individual merit to assist two Bedford resident high school seniors to begin their post-secondary school studies in higher education or vocational training.

Bedford resident high school seniors may obtain application forms from their high school principal or guidance counselors, any member of the Bedford Lions Club, the Bedford Pharmacy or the Bedford Public Library. Application deadline is March 17.

Since inception in 1971, the scholarship program has awarded a total of $79,500 in tuition scholarships to 89 Bedford students.

The Bedford Lions Club, in its 49th year of service to the community, welcomes membership inquiries. For information, call Mike Sills at 472-5516. For details concerning the Bedford Lions Club, visit www.bedford.nhlions.org.
