MANCHESTER – In an attempt to beautify the city by infusing art, color and creativity into the urban landscape, New Hampshire artists are invited to submit designs to paint on the traffic signal boxes in Manchester’s downtown.
Three to five designs will be chosen by a jury process and those selected artists will paint the traffic signal boxes this spring, weather permitting.
Each artist will receive a $300 stipend to cover materials and their time.
This project is a collaboration between InTown Manchester, the city of Manchester’s Art Commission and Highway Department and Studio 550 Art Center. The committee is excited to see how artists interpret the call for entries.
They are hoping for a wide variety of creative designs and solutions so that the most suitable ones may be chosen for installation.
The full application can be found on the Studio 550 website, under the “Opportunities” page. The deadline for completed submissions is 9 p.m., March 7. The $25 application fee will be waived for students.
Submissions may be sent via email, post mail or dropped off in person at Studio 550.
