The Bedford Men’s Club presented Eric Emmerling, development and resource manger of The CareGivers Inc., with nonperishable groceries and tote bags that his organization will use to deliver food to the elderly and disabled in Greater Manchester and Nashua.
The CareGivers are headquartered in Bedford and requested the tote bags at a recent Bedford Men’s Club meeting.
“Eric told us that they need the bags to deliver food to their clients,” said Dante D’Amato, a Men’s Club member who organized and delivered the club’s donation. “We included several bags of groceries so the tote bags wouldn’t be empty. The CareGivers’ efficiency and level of organization is amazing,” D’Amato said.
“Thanks to the Bedford Men’s Club for this generous act. I’m sure the bags will come in handy toting food from one location to another,” said Emmerling, when receiving the donation.
The CareGivers Inc. recruits, screens, trains and coordinates volunteers to offer presence and assistance to those in need. They provide nonmedical services, such as transportation, assistance with grocery shopping, free food packages, friendly visits and reassurance calls. Their care-receivers are often alone, on fixed incomes and without other means of assistance. All of their services are free of charge.
The Bedford Men’s Club is a nonprofit organization designed to promote the betterment of the community. Their main objective is to help support local educational and recreational youth programs.
The club’s primary fundraising events are the annual Christmas tree sale and golf tournament. Members volunteer their time and services to various community groups within Bedford.
The club’s recent donations include youth sports, Stand by Me, Destination Imagination, FIRST Robotics, Pan Mass Challenge and Students Against Drunk Driving.
