American Legion presents scholarships

Friday, August 1, 2014

At the recent awards ceremony at Bedford High School, the American Legion presented two scholarships to graduating seniors. Making the presentations was John Graham.

The first was the annual scholarship given out by the Stevens-Buswell Post 54, located in Bedford. This scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, was awarded to David Brasley. Brasley will attend UNH in the fall and major in business.

At the state level, the American Legion awards several $2,000 dollar scholarships each year. One of these is the Raymond K. Conley Memorial Scholarship, which is given to a student who is planning on a career in physical or mental rehabilitation.

This year the Raymond K. Conley Memorial Scholarship was presented to Kelly Woodmansee. Woodmansee will attend Quinnipiac University and major in sports medicine and physical therapy.
