Scholarships: April 1 deadline

The Bedford Women’s Club is accepting applications for the Josephine A Fearon Scholarship for High School Seniors Applications are open to students who are residents of Bedford.

F. Lane Fearon, an educator and president of the Bedford Women’s Club in the mid-40s, established the scholarship.

The Bedford Women’s Club also invites Bedford women, not of traditional age for school and enrolled in a post-secondary degree program, to apply for a scholarship. In the 1990s, the club added a scholarship for nontraditional students to its program.

The Bedford Women’s Club scholarship applications are available at www.bedfordwomensclub.org and clicking on downloads.

Completed applications for scholarships, including attachments, must be received by April 1. The criteria for a high school senior must include scholarship application (a transcript is required), extra-curricular activities, community service and financial need. Students are urged to check the website of the Bedford Women’s Club to be sure they are completing a current application. The criteria for women who are nontraditional students must include admission to a program in an accredited school, personal statement, financial need, community involvement and work experience.
