Bedford Basketball Recreation Results for weekend of Jan 16-17

Third- and fourth-grade girls. In a heated defensive battle throughout the game, LaBelle Construction edged out NH Motor Speedway, 8-6. LaBelle Construction got six points from Sophie Capistran and two from Cate Withee, and a strong defensive effort from Tori Pratt, Kallie Polgrean and Corrie Labelle. NH Motor Speedway had balanced scoring as Hope Lang, Devon O’Hara and Hannah McManus eached scored a basket.

• Baldwin and Clarke was able to continue its winning streak with an 18-6 win over Snip-its. Marisa Johnson led the way with six points. Erin Beaudoin and Sophia Bemiss had four points each, and Brooke Burdon and Carly Casey each scored a basket. Hannah Rinko scored all six points for Snip-its, while Mary Claire Norris and Jennika Mullen played a strong defensive game.

• The Orion Eagles came up on the short as New Horizons cruised to a 17-6 victory. Jennifer Appleby led the way for New Horizons with five points. Mary McGuire and Kaleigh Singleton added four, and Tia Singleton and Lizzy Stevenson each had a basket. Lexi Hawtin, Alexa Dyer and Anneliese Haas each pumped in two points for Orion Eagles.

• In a defensive battle the score was tied 2-2 at halftime, Precision Letter scored eight points in the second half to win 10-4 against Groundskeepers Unlimited. Molly Elrick had a season high six points while Anna Ropes scored four points for the winners. Emma Jane Tagliaferro and Stephanie Ropes led the team defensively, each contributing with many steals throughout the game. Leading the offense for Groundskeepers Unlimited was Michelle McAree and Amanda Jonas each with one basket.

Fifth- and sixth-grade girls. Sojourn Partners depth was too much for aggressive Karolian Realty, 30-11. Meghan Foley set the pace for purple with three early fast break layups and finished with a team-high 10. Brie Purcell and Carolyn Brodeur each contributed on offense while Danielle Angelini played tough defense for Sojourn. The pesky yellow was lead by Bree Sullivan with six points and Sarah Zadei with five.

• Julianna Mumpini controlled the base line today turning offensive rebounds into points as AutoFair bested Pension Design, 30-22. Mumpini led AutoFair with 10. Louisa Berman and Olivia Ouellet each tallied eight points for scrappy Pension Design. Mollie Redman was a key defensive player for Auto fair today and Paige Wallat netted a big shot late in the period.

• Abby Edwards got back on track with four points in each to lead Productions Inc. to a hard fought win over the EconomyCarz.Com, 15-11. The Orange were lead by Morgan Barnsley and Sidney Ford, who each had four. Shannon Gettings played lockdown defense for the Orange, but it wasn’t enough to stop a well prepared Red team.

• Phi Slamma Jamma held off the swarming press of Acting Loft to win, 26-22. The high/low combination of Madison Mindes and Charlotte Leyden netted 16 points for the Gray team, while Seanna Gosselin drilled in 17 on her own for Acting Loft. Marie Barton’s rugged defense helped Phi Slamma pick up some important turnovers, while Kayla Wickwire’s hustle all over the floor helped the Blue team stage a come back.

Seventh- and eighth-grade girls. True Blue Cleaners defeated Hamilton Software, 22-8. True Blue’s Kylee Holland led all scorers with eight, followed by teammates Jacque Kapoin and Hannah Johnson with four each. Hannah Carlson, Anika Hibbard and Letti Hibbard added two apiece for the win. Hamilton Software’s scoring was tallied by Julia Elmendorf with four, Kelsey Hoak with two and Anna Lussier with two. Kate Deabill and Katina Smith played strong up and down the court for Hamilton.

Voyager Systems held on to beat Boehm-Graham Interiors, 15-9. Gabrielle Hunter led Voyager with six points, with Jennica Collette and Erika Prouolx adding four each. Great pressure defense by the Haenel sisters, Jian and Mia, proved key in the victory. On the Boehm-Graham side Katie HoSang led all scorers with seven and Lauren Farrell added two. All-out hustle by Paige Bibbo, quick defensive hands of Maura Donovan and solid rebounding by Kiley Graham helped to keep the game close.

MDC Recovery Service defeated iLevel by Weyerhauser, 24-8. Hannah Purcell’s hard work under the basket produced her game-high eight points for MDC while teammate Brenna Williams added six, followed by Chandler Lake with four and Olivia Clark, Jessica Martucci and Maddie Oliwa chipped in two apiece. Kira D’Amato had a tremendous defensive game to help seal the win. iLevel’s offense was led by Olivia Blake with four, followed by Rachel LaBonte and Amanda Soterion with two each. Shaelyn Eldridge and Jacqueline Therrien both had a strong defensive game for iLevel.

Girls high school biddy. The senior leadership for UCLA was too much for the undermanned Notre Dame, 28-14. Michelle Robinson lead all scorers with nine points and the flying Ouellette sisters, Amanda and Grace, had nine points combined. The bruising Bishop sister Ali tried to keep ND in the game, ending with 10 of ND’s points.

Three-pointers came from Bekka Dreyer, Sam Schehl and Chelsea Hayens as Duke beat Michigan, 50-36. Pink came back with some fine second-half shooting lead by Emily Soterion’s 14 points. Chelsea Weber cleaned up the boards on both ends for blue while Jackie Zajac ran the floor for layups. Newcomer Ali Murphy pitched in for six points and her teammate Martha Dalrymple pushed the tempo for pink.

Third-grade boys. Access EMS pulled away from BFOR in the second half to win, 25-10. Access EMS was led by scoring machines Jason Boucher and Ryan Toscano with 10 points each. Christian Bourgeois added three points and Brian Faxon with two points.

Despite scoring more points than they have all season, it was not enough for EPE Corp., which ended up on the losing end of a 19-8 game against NH Motor Speedway. The Speedway was led by Blake Murray with six points, followed with five from Tim Galamaga, four from Nick Landman and a basket each from Harrison LeGoullon and Connor Fulton. For EPE, Jack Reusch led the pack with four points and Luke Ramsay and Stoughton Bell with two points each. Matthew Fox, Jack Gunning and Sam Ashooh contributed to the team play and Billy Morin was a powerhouse on defense.

BJ Laliberte won its first game of the season, beating DNS Construction, 16-8, using Justin Laliberte and Jack Wolf as guards leading the plays. Lucien Mumpini’s quick hands kept stealing the ball, and Clarence Heng and Jonnie Redman cleared the way for him to take it to the hoop repeatedly. Brian Barlotta and Max Tanzer drew several fouls and putting up many shots, while Noel Desmarais ruled the boards.

Fourth-grade boys. Keller Williams Realty slowed down the undefeated Accurate Brazing but in the end fell, 13-6. Keller Williams’ offense was supplied by Chris Chartier, Peyton Murray and Max Chartier, while Michael Mullen played tough defense all game. Accurate Brazing delivered another solid defensive performance led by Josh Koellmer, Mason Adams and Sam Spadaro. The offensive effort came in spurts as Matt Gilligan and Spencer Adams led the team in scoring. Chris Francis provided rebounding support all game.

Pizza Mia fought back late in the second half to tie Bounce U, 13-13. Bounce U took an early lead paced by Jake Coutu’s four points. Isshaan Chatterjee added five points to pull Bounce U ahead early in the second half, but Pizza Mia’s clutch baskets in the late minutes tied the knot. Kyle Demerrit and Thomas Norfleet added a basket each for Bounce U. Greg Wheeler, Eric Flynn and Cole Glennon led the second half offensive charge for Pizza Mia.

Rescon Basement Solutions defeated Bellwether Credit Union, 20-15, in a game that showcased tough defense and rebounding. The offense for Rescon Basement Solutions picked up steam in the second half, led by Ryan Andrews with 10 of his 12 points in the second half. Jack O’Donnell and Rohit Yerram showed tough inside defense and picked up countless rebounds for Rescon while Kamy Nikseresht did the same for Bellwether while adding a half dozen blocks. There was a tight one on one defensive battle between Tyler Bourgeois of Rescon and Jake Boyarsky, who also led Bellwether in scoring with nine points.

Fifth- and sixth-grade boys. Mir Sultan Oriental Rugs outlasted Bedford Men’s Club, 19-13. The Rugs pulled out a six point victory and were led offensively by Evan Natale, Jake Sarno and Nick Courtney, and good all around play from Austin Champagne and Amir Sultan. Bedford Men’s was led by David Norfleet and Tyler Allen.

Oztek Corp. overpowered Active Body Studio, 36-22. Active Body Studio started strong led by Mitchell Roy and Kyle Jordan. But Connor Zendzian and Nate Cote led Oztek’s second-half surge.

NAMTEK outlasted Progress Energy, 35-32.

Avalanche Screen Printing defeated Gilman Law Offices, 31-20.

River Road Pediatrics fell to the mighty Celtics, 40-23. Brendan Dillon and Cameron played ferocious defense for the Celtics.

Milford Medical Center defeated Capital Kitchen & Bath, 39-21. Capital Kitchen scoring was led by Josh Hughes sinking a three-pointer in the last period. Jarrett played strong on offense while Ben Gilson provided some strong rebounding under the boards.

Seventh- and eighth-grade boys. Nixon-Peabody defeated Montagne Communications, 29-10. Nixon-Peabody’s offense produced scoring from five different players. Sean Brodeur led his team with eight points, followed by Cole Nimmo’s seven, Jack Hanaway’s six, and four apiece from Jeremy Pariseau and Brett Veilleux. For Montagne, David Johnson and Justin Mickelson each had four and Andrew Barton chipped in with two. Michael Bureau and Colin Jenkins had solid games on both ends of the court for Montagne.

Granite Physiatry defeated Economy Carz, 31-11. A great effort by Granite’s Matt Johnston produced a game high 22 points. Teammate Max Sullivan added four, Eric Glassman with three and Sam Stanton added two. Trevor Mueller worked hard from start to finish for G.P. Economy Carz’ leading scorer was Alex Garrison with six, followed by Evan Terzian with three and Jack Cavanaugh with two. Kyle Barnsley had a strong game under the boards and Mark Peicker played well defensively for Economy.

MDC Recovery Service managed to hold off a great shorthanded effort by BVD Maniacs to win 22-19. MDC’s Marco Santini led all scorers with 12. Ben Dow dropped in a pair of threes to finish with six, while Bobby Burnett and Grant Mello dropped in two each. Alex Heng’s strong work defensively helped MDC hold off the Maniacs. With only four players on the court, BVD’s Allen Zadei led with nine, followed by Devon O’Hare with eight and Nicholas Brown with two. Great hustle up and down the court by Jordan Towers kept the game close.

In an exciting down to the wire game, Front Row Ticket Agency held on to defeat BJ Laliberte, 27-25. Front Row’s Nathaniel Jaeger led their team with 14, Nick Barnard came up with seven, Travis Soterion added three and Robert Gawlowicz finished with two. BJ was led by Andrew Biedermann with 16 points, while Jeff Lynn dropped in four, Ryan Lang added three, and Sean Looney with two. A great effort up and down the court by Lang and Jeff Lynn helped keep the game tight to the end.

In a high-scoring outing, OPUS defeated Rock 101, 33-25. OPUS’s Dan Colella led all scorers with 17 points. Teammate’s Ty Benson and Jonah Moser added five each, followed by Nick Cote, Robert Flynn and Matt Tierney chipping in for two apiece. Gage Benson’s defensive hustle helped secure the win. Eric Andrikowich was Rock 101’s leading scorer with 11. Michael Harkness also had a good offensive game with nine and Scott Daly finished up their scoring with five. A solid game from Brendan Kelliher and Patrick Winn helped 101 keep it close.

With the league’s strongest offensive performance of the day, Clifford Sells defeated Spectrum Marketing, 45-21. A solid Clifford team effort saw scoring from eight different players. They were led by Sam Heald with 13, Jacob Gordon with eight, and six apiece from Bryan Howell, Demetri Papakostas and Jimmy Heald. Completed by two each from Elias Ashooh, Alex Ellis and Suntosh Patil. Spectrum’s top scorer with eight and a big presence under the boards was Austyn Couture. Andrew Penaskovic followed with seven points and Chris Conery with six. Spectrum saw a strong defense game by Tyler O’Brien

Travel fourth grade girls. The team finished up the week 2-2. On Jan. 11, Bedford lost at Concord Boys & Girls, 26-18. Bedford was led by six points from Aly Fillion and three from Karina Schappler. On Saturday, the girls lost at Auburn, 17-13. Maddy Buffett paced Bedford with five points, Sadie MacIver added four and Quinn Allen added a free throw. Later that day, Bedford defeated Amesbury in the Rockingham Athletic Club Middle School Tournament, 37-10. Mia Roy scored nine, Maddy Graves added seven, and Stephanie Conrad contributed four to lead Bedford.  In the last game of the day, Bedford avenged the Concord defeat by defeating them, 25-22. Bedford was again led by Buffett with nine points. Anna May, Clare Driscoll and Ruth Driscoll also contributed a basket to the victory.

Travel third-grade girls. Bedford lost a tough game to Pelham in the final seconds, 14-12. Kendi Barnard and Sarah Cote scored four points each while Emily O’Keefe and all star defender Hannah McCarthy led the defense with 14 steals.

Bedford also lost a close game to top ranked St. Catherine’s, 16-12. Caroline DeLisle, Sophia King, Delaney Flanagan, Dariya Steele and Courtney Krause all scored.

Travel fourth-grade boys. Bedford won a tight game over Hampton on Jan. 10. Leading the offense were Nick Mokas, Brennan Hughes and Connor Robert.

Junior Bulldogs online registration begins. The Bedford Junior Bulldogs Pop Warner and Northeast Junior High football and cheer programs open online registration for the 2010 season has begun.

All new and returning football players and cheerleaders ages 5-13 that are Bedford residents are eligible to sign up.
