REC BASKETBALL

5th/6th grade boys

Active Body Studio 29, Bedford Men’s Club 13: Active Body was paced by seven points from Justin Mello and six points from Evan Andrews. Stephen Petrenko was strong on the boards for Active Body in the win.

River Road Pediatrics 33, Progressive Energy 21: River Road Pediatrics finished the regular season with a win. River Road was led by Ryan Linehan, who had 10 points, followed by Ethan Widrig, who had eight. The scoring was completed by Ben Domingue, Corey McGinley, Pat Murray, Joe McHugh and Tyler Mednikoff.

Milford Medical Center 37, Gilman Law Offices 17: Gilman Law was led in scoring by Jon Taylor and Ryan Porter.

Celtics 34, NAMTEK 30: NAMTEK made a run in the early part of the second half after being down. The Celtics fought back and increased the lead by five on a Griffin Lyons three-pointer. The Celtics as a team contributed to the win, with seven of 10 players scoring. The Celtics played their best defensive game all year and responded with great intensity when it counted most.

Capital Kitchen & Bath 25, Oztek 19: Capital Kitchen & Bath was able to endure with only one player for substitutions. Josh Hughes led the team in scoring; while Drew Smith, Jarrett Pellerin, Ben Gilson, Sean Kenny and Nick Ditomaso provided strong offensive plays. Michael Rinko led the scoring for Oztek Corp.

7th/8th grade boys

Front Row Ticket Agency 29, Nixon-Peabody 25: Front Row was led by Nathaniel Jaeger’s 12, followed by MacKenzie Turgeon’s seven, while Travis Soterion dropped in the next six and brother Tanner hit for four. Ryan Dwyer’s strong work under the boards helped to seal the win. On the Nixon side, Jack Hanaway led the way with 12. Teammate Tyler Krause also had a strong game with seven, Brett Veilleux chipped in the next four and Jeff Graves finished with two. Sean Brodeur’s board banging was key in keeping the game close.

EconomyCarz.com 39, Montagne Communications 31: Economy’s big man, Kyle Barnsley, led his team with 12, followed closely by Jack Cavanaugh with nine and Evan Terzian finished with eight. Six points from Alex Garrison and a hoop each from Kyle MacDonald and Michael Carluccio wrapped up the balance of Economy’s scoring. Montagne saw points from seven different players. Leading the way was Taylor Larson with eight, Justin Mickelson with seven and David Johnson with the next seven. Michael Bureau had the next pair of hoops, a bucket each from Chris Shaughnessy and Nolan Tranchmontagne, followed by Colin Jenkins with one.

MDC Recovery Service 37, Rock 101 28: In a great back and forth battle, MDC Recovery Service managed to pull away late in the game to defeat Rock 101. Taking the ball to the hoop, MDC was led by Marco Santini with 11 points, while Tony Martucci’s outside drops netted the next seven. Strong ball handling by Ben Dow resulted in six and hard work under the boards saw five from Grant Mello, four from Bobby Burnett and two each from Jake Strader and Pervesh Jaswal. For Rock 101, Revanth Damerla’s board work and all-out hustle produced a team leading 12. Driving hard to the hoop, Kyle Andersson finished with the next eight, while Zack Graham dropped in two buckets from the outside and Andrew Kalil and Brendan Kelliher each nailed a jumper.

Granite Physiatry 46, Spectrum Marketing 40: GP’s Matt Johnston had a great game under the boards, leading his team with 16 points, followed by a strong 14 from Matt Tetu. Solid shooting from Trevor Mueller and Max Sullivan resulted in three buckets each, and teammates Jeff Falvey and Sam Stanton followed with two apiece. Three Spectrum players finished with double digits: Chris Conery dropped in a solid 12, Patrick Simpson finished with 11, and Andrew Penaskovic also had 11, which included three 3-pointers. Tyler O’Brien added a solid four and Jake Valeri finished with two.

BVD Maniacs 20, OPUS 16: Matthew Martin and Devon O’Hare led the Maniacs with six points each, while Austin Aube, Tyler Harjula, Jordan Towers and Allen Zadei each finished with two. Defensive board work by O’Hare and Zadei sealed the win. Offensively for Opus, they were led by Jonah Moser’s five and Ty Benson’s four. Finishing with a hoop each were Gage Benson, Nick Cote and Robert Flynn, followed by Dan Colella with one. Both teams worked hard under the boards to make the game exciting.

Clifford Sells 42, BJ Laliberte 41: Running the floor hard, Jimmy Heald led Clifford with a solid 15. Elias Ashooh dropped in seven, Jacob Gordon’s board work netted him five, Sam Heald, Bryan Howell and Demetri Papakostas each pumped in a pair and Kevin Currie dropped in a three. BJ’s offense was led by strong forward Aaron Palys’ 14 and big man Andrew Biedermann’s 13. Ryan Lang had a solid performance with six, while Chris Buck worked the boards for four and Jeff Lynn dropped in a deuce. Great ball movement and up and down hustle by both teams made this the nail-biter of the day.

BASEBALL REGISTRATION

Bedford Little League has opened registration for the Spring season of baseball. The BLL program covers children age 5 - 12 as of April 30 of this year. Registration will be open until March 20 but a late fee will be assessed after Feb. 28.

Evaluations for players 8 - 12 years of age will be held March 6 at St. Anselm’s Carr Center. Players 5 - 7 years of age are placed by age group.
