Introducing the new Bedford Journal

Friday, October 21, 2011

Welcome to the new Bedford Journal.

Several months ago, a group of us began discussing how we might change the Journal from its traditional broadsheet style (typical newspaper size) to a handier format, commonly called a tabloid. In addition to making it easier to handle, our primary goal was to continue to publish all of the news that is important to you, the Journal reader. Then, we decided to go beyond that and create a product that has the feel of a magazine with strong photography, in-depth writing and a focus on what makes Bedford the community in which you choose to live.

We arrived at the newspaper you now hold in your hands. Our hope is to present to you with more depth on the important issues in the town and delve deeper into the many special aspects of the community, including:

• Schools and education.

• Town government and politics.

• Sports and recreation.

• Entertainment and events.

And of course, the people and personalities of Bedford and the impact they have on everyday life.

You’ll see an increased focus on what to do and where to go for fun and activities; consistent coverage of traditional news such as police, fire and public safety matters; and our best attempt at capturing that which makes Bedford unique.

You are busy, and what you read must fit into an active lifestyle. But we hope you find that the new Bedford Journal gives you a chance to relax a bit, plan your week, celebrate those around you doing good work and reflect on that which makes Bedford your home.
