Three BHS students eligible for Presidential Scholar honors
Friday, February 3, 2012
BEDFORD HIGH SCHOOL
Three Bedford High School students have been selected as candidates for this year’s U.S. Presidential Scholar Award, according to school officials.
Christopher Barton, John O’Rourke and William Song each have been identified as candidates and are eligible to apply for the prestigious award.
The Presidential Scholar program was established in 1964 by executive order of the president to recognize and honor some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.
Candidates are chosen by scoring exceptionally well on either the College Board’s SAT or the American College Testing Program’s ACT exams.
More than 2 million students take the SATs each year, and approximately 3,000 of those students are selected as candidates who are eligible to apply for the award.
