Bedford woman awarded Motorola’s Patent of the Year
Thursday, February 2, 2012
BEDFORD – Bedford resident Wanda Sealander, a software engineer for Motorola, was recently honored with its Patent of the Year award for 2011 for her work on wireless network solutions.
Sealander’s patent work involved the management of voice and data via wireless switches. Most providers of these products license the technology Sealander created from Motorola.
In order for a patent to be selected as Motorola’s Patent of the Year, the product must have had a significant impact on the corporation, officials said. The patent’s commercial value is the most important quality considered in the award, including the impact the patent and the associated technology has had for Motorola Solutions in the marketplace.
Sealander, a design engineer, has worked in the field of wireless communications for years and has several other patents that have found their way into WiFi technology.
