Council looks to fill board, commission spots

BEDFORD – The Bedford Town Council is seeking residents to be considered for appointment to boards and commissions in March. The voluntary positions are for a three-year term unless otherwise noted.

The Planning Board has openings for two regular members and two alternate members. One of the alternate positions is for a 1-year term. The board meets on the first and third Monday of each month to consider site plans, subdivisions, home occupations, change-of-use applications and to do overall planning for the town.

The Board of Adjustment has openings for one regular member and one alternate member. It meets on the third Tuesday of each month to consider appeals from the Zoning Ordinance or from an administrative ruling.

The Historic District Commission has openings for one regular member and three alternate members. One of the alternate positions is for a 1-year term and one is for a 2-year term. The commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month to review new construction, exterior renovations or major landscaping projects within the Historic District.

The Parks & Recreation Commission has openings for two regular members and one alternate member. It meets quarterly to review parks and recreation matters.

The Conservation Commission has openings for three regular members and one alternate member. It meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month to review dredge and fill applications and other wetland issues.

The Bedford Community Television Board has an opening for one member. It meets quarterly to review operations of the TV station.

The Highway Safety Committee has an opening for one regular member and one alternate member. The committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

The Water & Sewer Advisory Committee has an opening for one member. It meets on the second Friday of each month.

The Bedford Village Common Development Committee has openings for two members. It meets on the first Friday of each month.

The Energy Commission has openings for four regular members and three alternate members. The regular positions are: two 3-year terms; one 2-year term; and one 1-year term. The alternate positions are: one 3-year term; one 2-year term; and one 1-year term. The commission meets on the fourth Monday of each month.

There is one open position for a Cemetery Trustee. This position is for a 3-year term.

The position of Town Treasurer is open. This position is for a 1-year term.

The position of Assistant Town Treasurer is open. This position is for a 1-year term.

The position of Tax Collector is open. This position is for a 1-year term.

Any person interested in the above mentioned appointments must submit a letter of interest or an Application for Appointment (available on www.bedfordnh.org or can be obtained at the Town Offices) to the Town Manager’s Office, Attention: Town Council, 24 North Amherst Road, Bedford, NH 03110 or emailed to dboufford@bedfordnh.org no later than March 1. Interviews are expected to be completed and appointments made in early March.
