Winter Reading Night with principals a success
Friday, February 17, 2012
At the Bedford Parent Teacher Group’s annual Winter Reading Night event on Feb. 2, Bedford’s principals and vice principals from the district’s six schools provided an evening of entertainment centered on reading their favorite storybooks.
Children, wearing pajamas, arrived at the McKelvie Intermediate School to sit on blankets and pillows while they listened to the principals’ animated narration. The storytellers wore costumes, played musical instruments and improvised as they took the children on a journey designed to enhance their love of reading. The stories were projected onto a screen so the audience could follow along.
Light refreshments and healthy snacks were served and although admission tickets were required, there was no charge for the activity. Winter decorations and support for the event were provided by the CAT team which is a service-based organization at McKelvie Intermediate School.
