FOOTBALL
Bulldogs reach semifinals
The Bedford Jr. Bulldogs Jr. Pee Wee Red Team finished its season with a 13-12 loss to West Lynn, Mass., becoming the first Jr. Bulldogs team to advance beyond the quarterfinal round in the New Englands. Bedford advanced by beating the Wareham (Mass.) Tigers the weekend before.
The Jr. Bulldogs fell just two point shy of competing in the New England championships. The season had many highlights, including an undefeated state championship title and finishing the season 11-1. The defense had only allowed seven points in the previous 11 games going into the regional semifinal, with nine of the 11 games being shutouts. Of the 12 games, the offense never scored less than two touchdowns in a game all year.
Jr. Bulldogs varsity wins
After defeating Lowell 46-8 in the semifinals on Nov. 12, the Bedford Jr. Bulldog varsity team faced off against the undefeated Manchester Bears on Nov. 19 for the Division II State Championship of the Northeast/Seacoast Jr. High League. Bedford’s running attack and hard-hitting defense proved too much for the Manchester Bears, winning the title by a score of 26-8.
Offensive standouts were Sai kou Bah, Chase Hughes and Conner Kelley, behind the offensive line work of Tyler Allen, Will Fargo, Ben Beals, Will Lyons and Sean Kenny. The defensive work of linebackers Matt Beals and Griffin Lyons, and defensive backs Justin Mello and Sam Bennett kept the Bears’ offense from getting off the ground.
JV wins too
The Jr. Bulldogs JV team finished 8-1 by defeating the Manchester Bears Jr. Varsity team 14–0. Mikael Brown, Erik Brown and Ethan Lavallee provided the offense while defensive linemen Josh Koellmer, Collin Hoak, Zach Nover and Chris Fountain and linebackers Khorrie Zamor, Zach Wallat, Ben Miller and Josh Bethune played well on defense.
