Kudos to you, Santa’s elves

The numbers are in and the community came through, just as we had expected.

Our readers donated about $109,580 plus tens of thousands more in toys to help children in the area have a merry Christmas through the Santa Fund campaign.

There were smiles and tears of joy as parents came to collect the toys and gifts. Just one donated toy makes all the difference, and you made sure more than 3,000 children were delighted on Christmas day when they opened their gifts from Santa’s elves – you.

There will be times during the year when some of those parents will remember your generosity and we hope they pay it forward by helping others.

Children, too, will look back fondly on that Christmas in 2012 when they had gifts to open.
