Support Milford ambulance replacement
Sunday, March 10, 2013
To the Editor:
Late last year I had to have Milford Ambulance Service respond to my residence for a medical emergency. Their response was immediate and resulted in a serious medical emergency being handled with a positive outcome thanks to the care provided.
The ambulances used by the department on that day and, today, have been in service for 10 and 14 years and are used every day on calls. Fortunately for my family, both were in service that day. It could have been otherwise as older vehicles are prone to increased breakdown due to maintenance.
As the former DPW Director and current Water Commissioner, I have first-hand knowledge with vehicle maintenance and using equipment of this type beyond its expected life span. These are vehicles that need to be in service and immediately available.
I support the purchase of two new ambulances and hope you will as well so the Ambulance Service can be there for you and your family.
