Thursday, April 17, 2014

WILTON – On April 9, Gov. Hassen and the Executive Council confirmed a grant of $20,569 to the Wilton Water Department from the New Hampshire Department of Safety Emergency Management Performance Grant program.

The grant will cover half of the cost of a new generator system for the pump station, with the balance to come from a capital reserve fund.,

The generator will provide a modern electricity generation system that will allow uninterrupted service of the pumps in any emergency system. It will be installed during the summer.

The grant was researched and completed by Superintendent of the Water Works Michael Bergeron and then-Water Commissioner Frank Edelblut, and were awarded in January.

The Wilton Water Works were chartered by the Legislature in 1905 and provide water for downtown Wilton and the Pine Valley section of Milford.
