Milford 7-year-old selected as a Legoland junior ambassador

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Legoland Discovery Center Boston announced that 12 young Lego fans will serve as a junior ambassador on the inaugural Junior Construction Panel, including Conlan McCartney, 7, of Milford.

They were selected out of more than 600 applicants to help resident master model builder Ian Coffey with tasks and events at the new attraction, which will open Friday, May 23, at Assembly Row in Somerville, Mass.

Conlan submitted an application with a video that answered the questions “What makes you the biggest Lego fan and why should you be on the Junior Construction Panel?”

Conlan’s video can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Lndh1P8wl4.

Conlan was selected by Coffey and was judged on the creativity and enthusiasm exhibited in his submission, and the imagination conveyed in his Lego model. The first item on the Junior Construction Panel’s agenda will be helping Coffey at the grand opening celebration on May 23.

Tickets for the new Legoland Discovery Center Boston can be purchased at legolanddiscoverycenter.com.

Legoland Discovery Center Boston will host a search for the Junior Construction Panel each year. Parents with kids ages 5-12 who are interested should sign up for the center’s newsletter and become a fan on Facebook to receive updates.
