EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the first public statement made by the family of Kimberly Cates since her murder on Oct. 4. It was sent out to media outlets on Tuesday.

Jaimie, David and the Cates/Piasecki families would like to express our thanks for the wonderful care, concern and protection showed by the staff at Children’s Hospital Boston. It is truly an amazing place with the most amazing staff.

Thanks to their expertise and the many prayers of our friends and the community, Jaimie is continuing her recovery at home.

Our families would like to acknowledge the outstanding work and intensity shown by the quick arrest in the horrific death of our beloved Kimberly. We specifically would like to acknowledge the New Hampshire State Police, Mont Vernon Police, Milford Police, Amherst Police, Brookline Police, Hollis Police and the Attorney General’s Office.

We know that due to their actions and the timely arrest, our community has an improved sense of security.

Finally, we sincerely appreciate all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes from our wonderful community at home and across the nation. The outpouring of support in this extremely difficult time is overwhelming. Jaimie and David are continuing to recover and we covet your ongoing thoughts and prayers during this time of healing.

Respectfully,
