Bed Bath & Beyond opens in Amherst
Thursday, February 4, 2010
AMHERST – A major national retail chain is bucking the recession-driven trend of store closings and mergers by opening a new, 20,000-square-foot store in Amherst Crossing on Route 101A.
Located in space recently vacated by a Circuit City store, the newest Bed Bath & Beyond opened its doors Tuesday morning. It is the chain’s ninth New Hampshire store.
Other nearby Bed Bath & Beyond stores are on Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua, as well as in Salem, Hooksett and Plaistow. The others are in Keene, Portsmouth, Dover and Concord.
The Union, N.J.-based chain first came to New Hampshire in 2001 when it opened its Salem store. Nashua’s came the following year, according to public relations spokesperson Catherine Gentile.
Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., the stores’ parent company, was founded in 1971 and includes Christmas Tree Shops, Harmon outlets and a string of baby speciality stores.
BB&B stores specialize in bed linens, bath accessories, window treatments and home storage items and also carry cookware, kitchen linens and utensils, dinnerware and everyday household items.
