Zoning amendments get nod in Wilton
Thursday, March 11, 2010
WILTON – Steven J. McDonough is the new selectman, defeating Robert R. Duquette 255-203, in Tuesday’s election. Both men are political newcomers, replacing Dan Donovan, who chose not to run again.
The only other contest on the ballot was for sewer commissioner. Incumbent Charlie McGettigan defeated Carl LaChance 305-200.
All three zoning amendments were approved.
The remainder of the warrant will be addressed at a traditional meeting Thursday at 7:30 p.m., at the Florence Rideout Elementary School gym.
In a write-in campaign for Cemetery Trustee, Dave Boissoneault defeated Steve Elliott.
The Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative School District saw an enormous ballot because of the need to elect all positions to the new district, which was formed by combining Wilton-Lyndeborough, Wilton and Lyndeborough school districts.
All Wilton incumbents were re-elected, except Gilbert Hargrove.
For three one-year terms winners were Joyce Fisk, 257; Richard Griffen, 143; and Johanna Lynch, 87.
For the two two-year terms elected were Kimberley Reynolds, 288; and Ingrid Howard, 344.
James Tuttle got 161 and Gilbert Hargrove 129.
Elected to two three-year terms were Harry Dailey, 315; and Dion Lewis, 263. Alex LoVerme received 260.
The new Budget Committee consists of Jennifer Hilton, Dawn Tuamala, Cary Hughes, Mark Whitehill and Donald Davidson; and from Lyndeborough, Karen Grybko and William Ball.
Heather Nichols was elected clerk.
In Lyndeborough, the only contest was for a one-year, at-large seat. In a combined vote, former teacher Jim Button defeated long-time incumbent Robert Nields 479-240. (Wilton vote: 280 for Button, 152 for Nields; Lyndeborough vote: Button 199, Nields 88).
Karen Grybko and William Ball ran unopposed for Budget Committee, while two other seats were blank and gathered a collection of write-ins.
