Eat ice cream for CHaD
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
AMHERST - Calling all area ice cream lovers: It’s time to start collecting napkins and prepare yourself for possible “brain freezes,” as the fourth annual Jake’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Eating Contest to benefit the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD) is coming up Saturday.
The event, which welcomes ice cream eaters of all ages, starts at 2 p.m. at Jake’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Sweet Shoppe in Carriage Depot Plaza, 135 Route 101A.
The entry fee is $12 for adults and $8 for children. Participants can register at Jake’s anytime, as well as on Saturday. Those who don’t want to participate in the contest are still welcome to donate to CHaD.
A series of raffles and prize giveaways will take place throughout the day, with all entry fees and raffle proceeds going to CHaD.
Prizes for top ice cream eaters and raffle winners include two pairs of Red Sox tickets, donated by Steven Gould Box Company and Ocean Air; movie passes to Cinemagic; and passes to Mel’s Funway in Litchfield.
Other sponsors include the radio station Frank FM, Dynamic Strength & Conditioning, Merrimack Ten Pin, J.Bella Salon & Spa, Jake’s, and many more.
