Milford stores do well during alcohol sting
Thursday, August 19, 2010
MILFORD – Only one store out of 38 sold alcohol to an underage person during the Milford Police Department’s alcohol sales integrity checks Aug. 12.
In conjunction with the New Hampshire Bureau of Liquor Enforcement, police used two underage persons who tried to buy alcoholic beverages between 6 and 9 p.m.
A sales clerk at the Rite Aid Pharmacy, 15 Mont Vernon St., sold alcohol, and the Bureau of Liquor Enforcement will follow up with appropriate sanctions on the store, according to a police department press release.
Because the clerk is a juvenile, police are not releasing the name.
The compliance checks are conducted in an effort to identify stores and restaurants that sell or serve alcoholic beverages to underage customers and curb the sale and use of alcohol by minors.
