Milford man accused of abusing sick child

MILFORD – A local man is in jail on $30,000 cash bail, accused of physically and mentally abusing a sick 3-year-old boy over the course of nine hours.

Police say Christopher Faint, 21, of 155 Federal Hill Road, allegedly threw the child into a bathtub wall and also strangled him and called him stupid and retarded.

The child’s mother, Anne Marie Blais, told police the boy had a virus and her live-in boyfriend was furious that he woke him up in the middle of the night with diarrhea.

According to the police affidavit, Faint was first awakened by the child between 1 and 2 a.m. on Jan. 8 and found he had defecated in his pants. The couple cleaned him up and put him back to bed.

Twenty minutes later Faint checked on the child and found he had diarrhea and screamed at him, cleaned him up and put him back to bed. An hour later Faint found the child had diarrhea again, dragged him into the bathroom, took his clothes off and put him into a cold shower.

Blais said she heard the child scream and Faint calling him “stupid,” Then Faint took the child to his bedroom and Blais said she heard thumping noises and then the child screamed. She said she found the boy standing behind the door, wearing only his underwear and shivering.

At that point, according to the affidavit, Blais told Faint to get out of the bedroom, and she dressed the child and put him back to bed.

At 9 a.m. Faint went to check on the boy and the mother heard her boyfriend screaming obscenities and then he came back to the bedroom and said, “Your XXX bastard child did it again.”

Faint went back into the child’s room and then dragged the boy to the bathroom naked, calling him “a retard” because he found him sitting on the floor after having defecated on the floor and hadn’t told anyone.

“He kept calling him a retard and stupid and told him he needed therapy,” the mother reported to police. “We should have dropped you off on someone’s doorstep and said XXX that,” she reported him saying.

The mother said Faint then grabbed the child by the arm, picked him up and whipped him into the bathtub and turned on ice cold water, and she heard the child screaming.

At that point she grabbed Faint and said “Let go of my son,” and Faint “freaked out, grabbed her shirt, and said “what the xxx is wrong with you.”

She told him he was “scaring the child to death” and then she hit him on the head and Faint left the house.

The next day Blais brought the child to the doctor who found multiple bruises as well as abrasions and lesions, with damage to his hand, face, neck, shoulder, back, arm and groin.

Faint was arrested on Jan. 18 and charged with two counts of second degree assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

A probable cause hearing was scheduled for Monday, Jan. 28.
