Ethel Lyon Fiske, 90, of Temple, NH died January 17, 2010 at the Pheasant Wood Nursing Home in Peterborough, NH. Ethel was the daughter of Ernest and Daisy (Clement) Lyon. She was born on November 26, 1919 in Dracut, Mass. She grew up in Nashua and spent her summers in Temple.

Ethel married Edwin Fiske in 1937 and moved to Temple. She and Edwin lived on the farm that Edwin and his father, Orlo Fiske owned, the Pine Grove Poultry Farm. There she and Edwin raised their family for 57 years until Edwin’s death in 1994.

As she raised her large family, Ethel was very active in her church and the town. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Temple, and served for 80 years as a church choir singer. In the Miller Grange she was a faithful participant and held the office of President. She volunteered for many committees, including the church redecoration committee in 1954 and the Bicentennial committee in 1958. Ethel served on the Temple School Board, the Supervisors of the Checklist for Temple and was President of the Greenville Women’s Club. She also worked for the Sears and Roebuck catalog store in Peterborough for many years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Ethel is survived by 12 children: Sandra Benotti and her husband Richard of Temple, NH, Dianne Maki and her husband Richard of Jaffrey,NH, Marjorie Tetzloff and her husband David of Gardner, MA, Merrilee Brooks and her husband William of Richmond, ME, Sharon Viles and her husband Allen of Madison, ME, Wendy Cain of Salisbury, MD, Orlo James Fiske and his wife Diane of Goleta, CA, Timothy Fiske and his wife Kathleen of Temple, NH, Sherry Fiske and her partner Ben Tirey of Temple, NH, Robert Fiske of Peru, NY, Betsey Kaufhold and her husband Peter of Jaffrey, NH, Elena Fiske and her husband Charles Sheasley of Temple, NH.

Ethel was predeceased by one son, Richard, and 3 brothers; Richard Lyon, Everett Linscott, and Arthur Clement.

Ethel was blessed with 33 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 30, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Congregational Church of Temple. All are invited.

Interment will be in the spring in the East Cemetery in Temple, NH.
