Henry V. Gibbons

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Henry Vincent Gibbons, formerly of Wilton and Peterborough, N.H., and lately of Elizabeth City, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2010, at the Albemarle Regional Hospital in Elizabeth City.
Born in Wilton on Sept. 13, 1936, Mr. Gibbons was the son of the late Bernard M. Gibbons Sr. and Gabrielle (Bergeron) Gibbons.
Mr. Gibbons, a graduate of Wilton High School and Keene State College, served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany, was an elementary school teacher in Mason and a postal employee in Nashua and Greenfield, where he served as postmaster for many years. He had retired to Elizabeth City, N.C.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard M. Gibbons Jr. of Wilton and Allan E. Gibbons of Milford.
He is survived by three sisters, Margaret Gregoire of Port Richey, Fla., Elaine Mallows of Wilton, and Patricia Chappell of Apache Junction, Ariz., a brother, James Gibbons of Aydlett, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
