Clifford Stanley ‘Stan’ Schultz Jr. Deputy Fire Chief of Wilton Fire Department

Clifford S. “Stan” Schultz Jr., 76, of 73 Abbot Hill Road, Wilton, NH, died February 10th, 2010 at Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH after a brief illness. He was born in Wilton, NH on March 26th, 1933, the son of the late Clifford S. Schultz Sr. and Frances W. (Draper) Schultz. He had graduated from Nashua High School in 1951 and also attended classes at Lowell Technical College.
Mr. Schultz worked for Sanders Associates of Nashua, NH, and later Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company of Marietta, GA, for a total of 34 years, as a Procurement Manager for their Manchester Operations and then as a Subcontract Administrator for ATF Avionics Procurement for the F-22 Fighter, retiring in 1994.
He was Deputy Chief of the Wilton Fire Department, retiring in 1999 after 39 years of service to his community, and also served as a State of New Hampshire Forest Fire Warden and Deputy Warden for the Town of Wilton for many years. In addition, he served as a Wilton Sewer Commissioner and Chairman for over 30 years, a Wilton Water Commissioner, a Board of Governor’s Director for the Milford Area Communications Center and Past President of the Wilton Lions Club. Mr. Schultz enjoyed coaching Biddy League Basketball in Wilton for many years and attended many of his grandchildren’s games in later years.
Mr. Schultz was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Wilton.
He was predeceased by his brother Walter K. Schultz, who was Lost in Action at the Battle of Okinawa on May 18th, 1945 aboard the USS Longshaw, his sister, Lois (Schultz) Bellew, and his aunt, Lillian M. Schultz, who raised him in Nashua.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara E. (Warren) Schultz of Wilton, NH, his devoted son, Thomas C. Schultz and his wife, Melissa J. Schultz of Wilton, NH, his grandchildren, who he adored, Jonathan C. Schultz and Jessica D. Schultz of Wilton, his brother-in-law, Robert Bellew of Milford, his sister-in-law, Dorothy (Warren) Conyne of Sarasota, FL; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visiting hours are Sunday, February 14th from 1:00-4:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the Second Congregational Church of Wilton, Corner of Dale & Gregg Street, Wilton. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Wilton, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Goss Park, Wilton Lyndeborough Youth Center, P.O.
