Milford artist exhibits at Danforth Museum of Art

Sheli Petersen, of Milford, an artist and children’s book illustrator, will be displaying her drawing “Raven Roosting” in the “Picture This! 2012” exhibition at the Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham, Mass., from Sept. 9 through Nov. 4. The group show features the work of 21 children’s book illustrators in the museum’s Children’s Gallery, which is dedicated to the art of picture book illustration. The juror for the exhibition is Carol Goldenberg, book designer of five Caldecott Medal winning picture books and one Caldecott honor book.
Sheli Petersen is an assistant professor of art at Rivier University in Nashua, where she teaches design and illustration, and also art directs the Rivier Design Internship, a course for senior graphic design majors.
Her picture books include “Voladores” by Patricia Petersen, published by McGraw-Hill, and “Gigi and the Birthday Ring” by Giselle Fernandez, published by Renaissance House. Her art has been displayed in various venues, including the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, and the National Heritage Museum in Lexington, Mass.
