SABERS’ PERET SHINES

Fifteen schools consisting of a little more than 400 athletes participated in Souhegan High School’s non-scoring meet at the Hampshire Dome on Wednesday night.

This was the last chance for athletes to improve their marks or qualify for further meets during the season, and many did just that.

Mike Peret had another outstanding day for the Sabers, setting a school record in the 55 meter dash with a first place time of 6.4 seconds – the fastest time in Class I this season. He followed that performance with another Class I-best run of the season in 36.9 for first in the 300-meter run. He also won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.

Also on the boys’ team, Dennis Elverson qualified for the Class I meet with a seasonal-best 38.8 in the 300 meter.

On the girls’ side, Angela Blume added her name to the Class I qualifiers in the 600 meters with a personal-best of 1:47.9, as did Csilla V’amos with a respectable 11:28.1 in the 3,000-meter run. Kelsey Knight lowered her Class I time in the hurdles with a 9.1, and Jade Humphreys qualified in the 300 meters with a personal-best of 45.0.

The girls’ 4x800 team of Blume, Molly Mirhashem, Arianne Bennett and Hillary Wilson improved their seeding for the Class I meet by running a 10:44.3.
