Thanks to Milford Emergency Medical Service

To the Editor:
I would like to thank and commend the members of the Milford Emergency Medical Service, specifically EMTs Matt Dagianis, Brian Alley and Paramedic Allen Peck for their prompt response as well as their professional and compassionate care of my two-month-old son on Jan. 25.
It is a very difficult feeling to be placed in the role of a recipient of emergency medical care when you yourself are a provider. This happened to my family on Jan. 25 when my son experienced an episode of severe respiratory distress due to RSV. For you and I, RSV is the equivalent of a common cold but to a two-month-old the ramifications are potentially tragic.
Being a captain on the Fire Department and a paramedic for over 20 years, it was a very tumultuous and heart wrenching experience to be placed in the position where I had to rely on other’s to take care of my emergency. As a provider of emergency medical care myself it falls on us to take care of others problems but in all my years and all my training they never cover what to do when it is your own child that needs the care. That evening the staff of providers from the Milford EMS system filled that void and provided the highest level of care to my family.
To EMTs Matt Dagianis, Brian Alley and paramedic Allen Peck, thank you all again for all you did that evening. You showed me and my family what the concept of “Brotherhood” is all about.
