WILTON – The long-awaited McCormick Report on the condition of the three schools in the Wilton-Lyndeborough School District has been reviewed by the School Board’s Facilities Committee.

Their recommendations were presented to the joint meeting of the School Board and the Budget Committee on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

The committee is proposing projects totaling about $270,000 to address the major problems in the buildings.

Other recommendations will be considered in a long-range plan.

A warrant article will ask for $77,000 for improvements to Florence Rideout Elementary School, to be paid for by Wilton residents.

The rest of the projects could be covered through surplus and unexpended fund balance, if voters so choose.

By agreement, surpluses are divided between the towns, 70 percent to Wilton, 30 percent to Lyndeborough.

Proposed work includes;

At Florence Rideout: $134,000 for electrical upgrades; $50,000 for the gym roof; $22,000 for chimney repair.

At Lyndeborough Central: $2,000 for electrical work; $2,000 for a locking system; and finishing the paving of the parking lot.

At the middle/high school: $2,000 for electrical work; $13,000 for roof repair.

Other proposed warrant articles will consider changing to a full-time kindergarten program; furnishings for a second kindergarten room at Florence Rideout; and establishing the position of a district-wide facilities supervisor.

The School District Annual Meeting will be held Friday, March 9, at 7 p.m., at the middle/high school.
