MILFORD – A local man wanted for robbery and attempted murder in Massachusetts was arrested by Milford police on Jan. 28 on a warrant out of Ayer, Mass.

Nicholas T. Schirmer, 20, of 159 Federal Hill Road, was initially held on $150,000 cash bail on a fugitive from justice charge, according to Milford police.

On Jan. 30 he was returned to Massachusetts to face charges of unarmed robbery, aggravated assault and attempted murder, according to Nashoba Publishing.com.

Massachusetts authorities say Schirmer and Blake Morris, 20, of Shirley, Mass., assaulted a third man while the three were in a car in a supermarket parking lot in Ayer.

The alleged victim told police he met the two suspects to buy marijuana and Morris allegedly began to strangle him from behind while Schirmer allegedly riffled through his pockets and took $980 in cash.

Schirmer is being held on $2,000 cash bail, and a pretrial conference in Ayer District Court is set for Feb. 29, according to the online newspaper.

Morris, who told police that the alleged victim was actually the aggressor, was reportedly arrested in Chester, N.H. and refused extradition to Massachusetts.
