Couples mark 50th anniversaries with Hawaii vacation

Thursday, November 17, 2011

My parents, Gary and Marilyn Ciardelli, and their longtime friends John and Linda Ferguson both celebrated their 50th wedding anniversaries this year. All four are graduates of Milford High School, with John and Linda currently residing in Milford and Gary and Marilyn in Wilton. During the early years of their marriages, they discussed taking a trip if both couples made it to the 50-year mark. Well, they did, and the destination was Hawaii. It all started with a departure out of Boston on Oct. 3, followed by a four-night stay at Waikiki Beach Marriott, Honolulu, Oahu. Next on the agenda was a three-night stay at the Keauhou Beach Resort, Keahou, Kona. This is the “big” island. The last seven nights were spent at Outrigger Napali Shores, Kahului, Maui. They arrived back home Oct. 17. Prior to their departure, they hosted a small party for themselves and yet another couple celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. My parents’ neighbors and longtime friends Roger and Sally Reynolds, of Lyndeborough, also made the grade. Sally graduated from Milford High School and Roger from Peterborough. Congratulations to all.
