GIRLS BASKETBALL
Dec. 16: Kearsarge 53, Milford 30
The Spartans were led by Dina Pitsas’ 18 points on Friday, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to 1-1 on the season. Jenn Dupuis chipped in with seven points in the loss.
TRACK
Dec. 17: Girls take fourth, boys eighth
The Milford track teams had their first indoor meet of the season, competing against at the Leverone Field House at Dartmouth College.
Milford’s girls finished fourth, led by Courtney Hawkins’ first in the 3000 meters (10:49.54), freshman Brianna Lippitt’s first in the 1,500 meters (5:24.50), sophomore Rachel White’s first in the long jump (15-5.5). Other strong performances by the girls included Aimee Krafft in the 1000 meters (sixth), Sarah Martineau (fifth in the high jump), a third-place finish by the 4X200 relay team of White, Rylee Bailey, Megan Tyrell and Jessica Krafft and a fourth-place finish by the 4X400 team of Serena Patel, Aimee Krafft, Hannah Ladeau and Miranda Couture.
For the boys Parker Lyttle won the high jump (6-4) and was third in the long jump (18-7.75), Ian Michaud finished sixth in the 55-meter hurdles, David Wilson took seventh in the 1,000 meters and David Addington finished fifth the 1.500 meters.
SOUHEGAN
BOYS BASKETBALL
Dec. 16: Souhegan 70, Laconia 42
Brandon Len hit four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 35 points to lead the Sabers to a season opening win over the Sachems on Friday in Amherst. Zack Simmonds added 16 points for the winners.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Dec. 16: Souhegan 74, Laconia 31
The Sabers even their record by dominating Laconia on Friday. Jane White scored 18 points in the victory. Mickenzie Larvee added 14 points and Ceara McNamera had 11 points for the Sabers.
BOYS HOCKEY
Dec. 14: Souhegan 11, Manchester West 1
Stevie Upton scored three goals and assisted on three others to lead the Sabers past the Blue Knights. Patrick Maguire and Conor Casey chipped in with two goals each, while Ben Ehrlich, Mike Hayden (two assists), Nate Gunter and Alek Medic (one assist) all scored one goal each.
Brendan Dix (two assists), Vincent Silvestri, Cullen Johnson and Teemu Raina all recorded assists in the win, while goalie Ryan Peterson made 11 saves in the win.
West goalie Troy Langevin was peppered all night. He finished with 30 saves in defeat.
Dec. 17: Souhegan 7, Kearsage 1
Souhegan upped its record to 3-0 by thrashing Kearsage. Mike Hayden had two goals and three assists in the victory.
Mike Belanger added two goals for the Sabers. Stevie Upton added two goals and two assists for Souhegan. Conor Casey and Patrick Maguire each had a goal in the win, while goalie Ryan Peterson made nine saves.
SWIMMING
Dec. 17: Girls sweep again, boys win three
The Sabers’ girls swim team swept a six-team meet in Nashua, beating Nashua South (119-40), Merrimack (99-79), Bishop Guertin (102-74), Hollis Brookline (121-39) and John Stark (120-25).
Leading the girls team were Olivia Wons (first in the 200 IM and 100 free), Jamie Freud (first in the 100 back and second in the 100 free), Christine Black (first in the 100 breast) and Kaitlyn Capprini (first in the 50 free). Rounding out the girls squad was Shannon Disco (second in the 50 free) and Alicia Meehan (second in the butterfly).
The girls relay of Capprini, Black, Margaret Dean and Disco won the 200 IM. Wons, Capprini and Taylor Studley took first in the 200 free while Disco, Wons, Freud and Studley took first in the 400 free relay.
The Souhegan boys fell to Bishop Guertin and HB but defeated Merrimack, South and John Stark.
Leading the boys team was Eric Howard, who won the 200 Free and second in the 100 breast, and Bobbby Graham, who was second in the 50 free.
TRACK
Dec. 17: Souhegan boys first, girls second
Souhegan won the boys meet and the girls were second Sunday in a 17-team event at Dartmouth College. The Souhegan boys scored 71 points in their victory, followed by Nashua North (42), St Johnsbury Academy (35), Hanover (25) and Timberlane (20).
Souhegan sophomore Ben DeForest set a school record with his first-place time of 8.11 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles. Jake Kittredge and Bert DeForest both broke the school record in the 600 meters, finishing second (Kittredge, 1 minute, 25.51 seconds) and third (DeFiorest, 1:26.7).
Other individual scoring places for the Sabers included Andi Coates’ second in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches), Pat Lynch’s second in the 1,500 meters (4:27.47), Eli Moskowitz’s third in the 1,500 (4:38.18), James Tabor’s third in the shot (39-4), Nate Kittredge’s third in the 1,000 (2:44.59), Tanner Kent’s fifth in the 1,000 (2:44.8), Ryan Hinrichs’ fourth in the 3,000 (9:45.86) and Ben Platt’s fifth in the 1,500 (10:06.5). The 4x200 relay team of Aaron Prescott, Dennis Elverson, Ryan Sickler, and Chris Chininis won in 1:36.82. The 4xby400 relay team with Nate Kittredge, Drew Prescott, Nelson Corchardo and Jake Kittredge was second (3:42.20).
Souhegan’s girls were second (46.5) to Hanover (55), followed by Timberlane (38.5), Milford (35), Lebanon (30), and Monadnock (22).
Isabella Stuopis improved her school record in the shot at 40-8. Sarah Hurd was third in the 600 meters (1:48.39), followed closely by Angela Blume (1:49.01).
In the 1,000 meters Raleigh McElvery was third (3:25.91) and Min Lu Kelly-Durham was fourth (3:26.08). Katherine Tebbetts was fifth in the 1,500 meters (5:42.48). Csilla Va’mos placed third in the 3,000 meters (11:12.57), Erin MacDonald was fifth in the 300 meters (44.89), Jade Humphreys was sixth in the 300 (45.14) and Hurd tied for third in the high jump (4-8).
The 4x400 relay team of McElvery, Kelly-Durham, Hurd, and Blume was third and the 4x200 team of Humphreys, McDonald, Allison Chapman and Taylor Behn was fourth.
WRESTLING
Dec. 14: Alvirne 50, Souhegan 24
In its victory over the Sabers, the Broncos got pins from Taylor Thine (106), John Plante (113), Chad Collins (120), Brendan Smith (132), John Roarke (152), Patrick Moore (160), Taylor Dube (170), Steve Lichtenberg (220) and Taylor Burgess (285).
Highlights for Souhegan included victories by fall by Connor Chareth (120), Mitchell Ilaqua (126) and James Ewing (182).

BOYS BASKETBALL
Dec. 16: Newmarket 59, W-L 26
Adam Edmunds (10 points) and Tony Graziano (seven points, eight rebounds) led the Warriors offense in a tough loss played at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord.
