MILFORD

BOYS BASKETBALL

Feb. 10: Con-Val 54, Milford 40

The Spartans dropped to 4-10 after Con-Val, trailing 27-26 at the half, outscored Milford 17-8 in the third quarter to take control. Logan Barlow had 14 points to lead Milford while Jared Lakin added 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Feb. 10: Milford 51, Con-Val 40

The Spartans’ Dina Pitsas exploded for 25 points as Milford improved to 5-10. Jen Ryan had eight points in the win.

WRESTLING

Feb. 8: Milford 41, Goffstown 26

The Spartans Devin Dolliver was losing 9-1 in midway through the second period when he pinned his opponent at 132 pounds, propelling Milford to its 20th dual meet victory in 24 matches.

Caleb Wright followed with a key 7-2 decision at 138 and the winners had pin victories from Scott Dannewitz at 160, Andrew Myers at 170 and Joe Albina at 182.

Feb. 11: Spartans take dual meets

Milford went undefeated on the day, while Nashua North’s Joey Page picked up his 100th career win at the Souhegan-Milford Dual Meet Championships.

The Spartans picked up wins over White Mountains (62-9), Plymouth (45-21) and North (42-33), the last of which came down to the final match, where Milford’s Rueben Carson pinned North’s Marly Kert at 2:36 of the 120-pound match. Also wrestling well for Milford was Andrew Myers (182), Connor Borne (152), Joe Albina (170), Scott Dannewitz (160) and Devin Dolliver (132), who had two pins on the day.

North went 1-2 – beating White Mountain Regional 45-12 while losing to Milford and Salem (36-33) – at Saturday’s meet, but Page wasn’t going to let the Titans go without a memorable highlight for the day.

Page, who went 3-0 on the day at 160 pounds, recorded a pin in 38 seconds against his White Mountain opponent to lock up the 100th victory of his high school wrestling career.

Also going unbeaten on the day with three pins to their credit were Cam Bennett at 106 and Connor McBride at 145.

In the loss to Milford, Titans 170-pounder Joe Chimelski pulled out a 6-2 win over the Spartans’ Albina.

SOUHEGAN

BOWLING

Feb. 11: Merrimack tops Souhegan, HB

The Tomahawks finished off the regular season by scoring a team-record 1,806 to beat Souhegan (1,710), Hollis Brookline (1,570) and Keene (1,278). Both Merrimack and Souhegan picked up three points and HB got one.

Tim Morin was the high scorer for Merrimack, bowling a 377, while Zack Amodio had a 370 and Shawn Crement added a 360. Justin Conway rolled a 357 and Max Halpin had a 342.

Pat McDeed led Souhegan with a score of 374, while Cam Calato bowled a 363 and Sam Leedy had a 335. HB’s Tyler Martin had the high score for the day with a 386, while teammates Andrew Cappella had a 330 and Brad Farnum bowled a 316.

Merrimack finished the regular season in second place overall, while Souhegan was third and HB tied for fifth.

The teams will compete in the team tournament at Spare Time in Manchester on Saturday, with the individual tournament scheduled for Feb. 25.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Feb. 10: Souhegan 54, Windham 37

The Sabers’ Jane White had 14 points as they upped their record to 10-4. Tori Forrest scored 14 points and Ceara MacNamara added 11 points for Souhegan.

HOCKEY

Feb. 8; Alvirne 5, Souhegan 4 OT

Joe Stacy scored twice in the third, including the tying goal with 20 seconds left, but the Sabers fell to the Broncos in overtime. Mike Hayden and Mike Belanger also had goals and Stevie Upton had two assists.

Ben Ehrlich, Brendon Dix and Vince Silvestri also had an assist each. Ryan Peterson made 17 saves.

Feb. 11: Souhegan 3, John Stark-Hopkinton 0

Stevie Upton scored all three goals for the Sabers (9-5-1) as they knocked off the Generals in Division III action. Mike Hayden, Conner Casey, Alex Maresco and Joe Stacy each had an assist while Ryan Peterson made 20 saves.

NORDIC SKIING

Feb. 11: Bender leads Sabers

The Souhegan teams traveled to White Mountain Regional to compete in the second of two Coaches’ Series Races. Twenty-eight teams competed in the 5K course, using the skate technique.

On the boys side, Souhegan’s Jason Bender came in 32nd in the boys A race, finishing in 13 minutes, 11 seconds. In the boys B race, Sam Saunders came in ninth while Jack Lowell was 15th and Peter Emerson 27th.

Pia Marciano lead the girls by finishing 38th (15:38) in the girls A race. Hannah Culver came in 43rd and Rachel Springmann was 60th. Lauren Ostrowski came in sixth in the girls B race, with Lyndsey Hagen coming in 14th.

The top 24 skiers with the best combined results from the two series races advanced to compete in the Eastern High School Championships, and Bender’s performance in the two put him 17th.

WRESTLING

Feb. 8: HB 24, Souhegan 6

With nine matches ending in no contest, this match was over quickly with four others lasting less than a minute.

Picking up pin victories for the Cavaliers, who improved to 11-2 on the season, were Kyle Ducharme in just 30 seconds at 113, Zach McPherson in only 25 seconds at 126, Casey Quinn in 29 seconds at 160.

And, in the match of the night, the Cavs Zach Migneault pinned Souhegan’s Brandon Ward in 3:01 at 285.

Souhegan’s only victory came was Cameron Crook, by pin, in 50 seconds at 220.
