YOGA

SUMMER YOGA PROGRAM FOR ATHLETES: Hollis/Brookline High School students/alumni can enhance their preseason conditioning with yoga. Ideal for the disciplined athlete, this athletic, challenging style of yoga will help improve strength, flexibility, balance and core power.

Classes will be Tuesdays from 7-8:15 p.m. in the mini gym at HBHS on the following dates: July 6, 13, 20, 27 and Aug. 10. Cost of the program is $40 for the entire five-week session or $10 per class for drop-ins.

BASKETBALL

H/B SKILLS AND DRILLS GIRLS CAMP: The First Hollis/Brookline “Skills & Drills Girls Basketball Camp” will be held at Hollis/Brookline High School gym July 26-30 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each day.

Girls from Hollis and Brookline, entering grades seven, eight and nine are invited. The Camp will be run by coaches Bob Murphy, Tim Glover and several of last year’s varsity players.

The Camp will include individual skills, group drills, contests, and team games. This will be a great time to meet the high school coaches and players. You will learn many of the high school drills, “touch the ball” and have some fun. Cost for the week is $60 per camper. A certified trainer will be present.

Application forms, health and waiver forms and a copy of a recent physical will be required. For information and forms required contact coach Bob Murphy at bob@rhmurphy.com. Registration will be limited to the first 40 sign-ups.

MILFORD HOOP CAMP: The Spartans Rebounders Club, under the direction of varsity basketball coach Dan Murray, will be hosting a camp this summer, July 26-30. The camp, which runs daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is for boys and girls aged 8-16 and costs $125. Brochures are available by calling 672-7140.

FIELD HOCKEY

ASTROS SHOOT FOR THE STARS: The annual Astros Shoot for the Stars field hockey camp will run the weeks of July 12 and July 19 from 8 a.m.-noon at Rider field in Derry from Monday through Friday.

Beginners to high school varsity players are welcome from grades 4-12. The cost is $100 for one week and $175 for two weeks and includes insurance, camper pack and instruction.

Contact person is Pinkerton Academy field hockey coach Denise Rioux at 437-6402. Forms can be e-mailed to you by requesting one at DRioux@pinkertonacademy.org or mailed by leaving your address. Goalies should bring their own equipment.

CROSS COUNTRY

NASHUA PAL: Get a jumpstart on your elementary school cross country season this year by participating in the Nashua PAL Cross Country Running Camp.

The program will be Aug. 16-20 and/or Aug. 23-27 (5:30-7 p.m. daily, rain or shine) at the Nashua High School South track.

The camp cost is $20/week (camp T-shirt is included with two weeks tuition). This program is for children attending third, fourth and fifth grade in the fall of 2010.

The primary goal of this program is personal achievement, individual success and the development of healthy habits in a fun and social atmosphere.

As a participant, your child will be encouraged to set personal goals and work to achieve those goals with a renewed sense of pride in their accomplishments.

MERRIMACK QB CLUB: The Merrimack High School Quarterback Club will be sponsoring a youth football clinic this summer for ages 7-12.

Conducted under the guidance and support of head coach Joe Battista and his staff, this clinic promises a great opportunity for all who participate to improve on the fundamental skills of the game and help increase the level of play.

This week-long clinic will run Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16, from 8 a.m.-noon.
