Fish and Game to hold ice fishing class

MILFORD – Just in time for cabin fever season, instructors from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will run a three-week Saturday program in Milford on ice fishing.

The class is part of Fish and Game’s “Let’s Go Fishing” Program and is open to anyone, however, those 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Sessions will be Jan.30 and Feb. 6 from 1-4 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 13, time to be determined.

Reserve a spot by contacting “Let’s Go Fishing” instructor Dale Riley, Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at 673-2987 or evenings at 673-4036. The class is free, and registration is first-come, first-served. All equipment and materials will be provided. You do not need a fishing license to participate.

The Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 classes will take place at Riley Brothers Lumber at 39 Christmas Tree Lane in Milford, where participants will learn about ice fishing equipment, safety and practices and the winter ecology of lakes and ponds.

On Feb. 13, the group will head out to a local pond and put their newly learned skills to the test.
