AMHERST – Preparations are under way for the annual Kitty Angels Fundraiser and adoption days at Treasures Antiques, Collectables & More, on Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Last year, more than 60 vendors jammed the grounds surrounding Treasures in a flea market, garden sale atmosphere, selling everything from old to new, including an eclectic mix of decorative items, furnishings to furniture, architectural pieces, Avon products, plants, jewelry (including Lia Sophia), pet items, clothing, military, sports related goods, woodworkers, food, services and the $1 junque tables.
Fundraising raffles and silent auctions will be featured throughout the weekend. Last year’s event offered more than 25 different prizes and awards. Other refreshment-type foods and beverages will be offered for donations.
This fundraising event for Kitty Angels Inc. was the idea of Treasures owners, Rick and Sherry Tobin, who just over 15 years ago, adopted their first kitten “Kameo” from this no-kill shelter. The event is their way of giving something back to the organization. Since they started these events for Kitty Angels, they also adopted “Kodak,” “Rajah Noelle,” “Havana Blue,” and most recently “Ocean Pearl.”
Kitty Angels, Inc. is dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned cats and furnishing them with treatment for injuries or other health issues. The cats are then placed into homes with compatible owners. All the necessary steps are taken to ensure the well being of the cats, including screening for infectious diseases, spaying and neutering, providing rabies, distemper and other necessary vaccinations.
Kitty Angels is a non-profit, charitable corporation. All donations to Kitty Angels are federal and state tax-deductible.
To make a donation through Treasures, even for those who can’t visit during that weekend, send a check or money order made out to Treasures (with a note in the memo section: “Kitty Angels Inc.”), and send it to Treasures Antiques, Collectables & More, 106 Ponemah Road, Amherst, NH 03031.
Vendor interested in setting up for the event may do so for a donation of $25 for a weekend space. This will be in an open outdoor area and tents may be set up. Contact the owners at 672-2535 for more information.
