Solinas for budget committee
Friday, March 5, 2010
To the Editor:
I am writing to recommend consideration of Jim Solinas as candidate for Brookline member of the Co-op Budget Committee.
Jim has several qualities that are crucial to success in this position. Jim asks good questions and listens to the answers. This is critical because we all have pre-existing opinions and expectations, but rarely, do we have all the facts or all the data necessary to make the best decisions. Only by asking good questions and listening to the answers can an informed decision be reached.
Jim is respectful of the opinions of others and willing to consider all input. It is one thing to hear the opinions of others. Jim takes the next step and is willing to alter his position if new information warrants it.
Jim is persistent and, when faced with an unexpected situation, makes an extra effort to produce a positive outcome.
He is not one to complain when he does not get his way. Jim will adapt to the circumstances that develop and search for ways to achieve desired goals.
As a parent and taxpayer, Jim understands the many objectives of our school system and I believe he will be an effective representative of our community. I am sure he would welcome comments or questions.
