Hollis man arrested after fiery crash Sunday

Friday, December 6, 2013

BROOKLINE – A Hollis man escaped his burning car after a crash early Sunday morning but soon was placed under arrest for drunken driving, police said.

Daniel Lewis, 24, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated by state police after they and Brookline firefighters arrived at the scene, which was described in a statement from Troop B officials as Mason Road at Scripts Road.

No listing can be found for that intersection in Brookline, but maps of neighboring Mason show a Scripps Lane intersecting with Brookline Road, the latter of which is an extension of Mason Road in Brookline.

Police said Lewis was booked and released on unspecified bail pending a court appearance in January.

They said the car was a total loss.
