Friday, January 24, 2014

HOLLIS – In cooperation with Hollis Brookline High School, the Hollis Police Department conducted a search of the interior of the school with specially trained drug detection dogs on Jan. 16.

No drugs were found.

Police dogs from Mason and Hillsborough aided in the search, which took approximately 15 minutes.

According to Sgt. Richard Mello, the search was not in response to any particular incident or issue, but part of an overall education and prevention philosophy to raise awareness.

This is the first time a search of this nature has been conducted at the school.

The search was approved in advance by the Hollis Brookline Cooperative School Board.

Additional searches of this nature will occur periodically throughout the school year.
