Margaret “Peggy” Kerr Mithoefer, 70, of Delray Beach, Florida, died peacefully February 18, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born October 25, 1943, in Camden, South Carolina, the daughter of Dion Kerr and Margaret Wing Kerr. She grew up in Camden, South Carolina, and Cooperstown, New York. She graduated from Garrison Forest School and Briarcliff Manor College. She and her former husband started their family in Manchester, Vermont, later moving to Hollis, New Hampshire.

In the 1980s, she started a successful knitting business making custom ski hats. Later, her passion for antiques evolved into a flourishing business. She loved seeking out antiques as she traveled throughout the Northeast. Peggy excelled in tennis, badminton, knitting, was a voracious reader and took great satisfaction in supporting the Democratic Party. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren and was loved by them.

She is survived by her brother Mike Kerr and his wife Debra of Delray Beach, Florida, by her two children, James S. Mithoefer and his wife Steffanie of Furlong, Pennsylvania, and her daughter Kirsten P. Herzig and her husband, David, of Lafayette, Colorado. Peggy took great delight in her four grandchildren, Asher and Bryce Mithoefer and Palmer and Will Herzig.

Her spirit will be felt forever, as she is loved by so many family and friends.

In memory of Peggy, donations may be given to Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407-9926 or www.alz.org.

A celebration of Peggy’s life, followed by a burial, will take place in Dorset, Vermont at a later date.

Peace.
