Marie Carroll McCarthy Isherwood

LYNDEBOROUGH – Marie Carroll McCarthy Isherwood, of Lyndeborough, died peacefully on Nov. 24, 2009, surrounded by the love of her family, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. She was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Hartford, Conn., to Daniel and Helen Flanagan Carroll.

She grew up in Hartford with brothers Edward, Robert and James; Ed and Jim preceded her in death. Bob lives in Newington, Conn., with his wife Jackie (Jacquelyn). Marie attended parochial schools in Hartford and graduated from Mount Saint Joseph’s Academy.

She married Thomas Edward McCarthy (deceased) in 1942. They had three children, Susan McCarthy Levesque (husband Gerard) of Lyndeborough; Timothy James McCarthy (deceased); and Joan McCarthy Garner (husband Dean) of Jackson, Tenn. One of her proudest accomplishments was attaining the position of office manager at Catholic Family Services in Hartford. In 1973, Marie married James B. Isherwood Jr. (deceased), of West Hartford, Conn. Along with many cousins and nieces and nephews, Marie dearly loved her stepchildren, Ann Isherwood Sherwood, of Potomac Falls, Va.; James Isherwood III (wife Peggy), of Lake Geneva, Wisc.; and Robert Isherwood (wife Marlene) of Poultney, Vt.; daughter-in-law Michele Bailey McCarthy Hollick (husband Terry) of Hollis; grandchildren: Thomas Levesque, Michael R. Levesque (wife Lori), Paul Levesque, Charles Levesque (wife Gina), Christine McCarthy Geddes (husband Dan), Thomas Edward McCarthy, Katie Garner Garvey, Kristen Garner Christy (husband Brian), Kara Garner Enache (husband Bogdan), Emily Garner, Will Garner, Andrew Garner, Kathy Sherwood Brown (husband Chuck), Amy Isherwood and Ryan Isherwood. Great-grandchildren: Kathleen Levesque, Kyle Levesque, Ryan Levesque, Ashley Hillman, Christopher Levesque, Michael F. Levesque, Timothy Calvin Geddes, Sydney Geddes, Jenna Davine, Roman McCarthy Enache, John Christy, Allison Brown and Matthew Brown. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson-in-law, Sgt. Justin Garvey and son-in-law, Charles (Pug) Sherwood.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Wilton, on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at 11 a.m., with internment following at Mount Calvary Cemetery, also in Wilton.
