Michael D. Gallant, 50, of Merrimack, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 7, 1959, in Methuen, Mass., and was the son of Albert and Rose (LaPlume) Gallant. He was raised and educated in Salem, and had been a resident of Merrimack for the past 13 years.

Mr. Gallant was employed as a yard manager at Siciliano Landscape Co. of Amherst. He had previously been employed for many years with Hammar Hardware Company, of Merrimack, and was also previously the Chief of Engineering at Residence Inn of Merrimack. Mike was also on the resident board at the Camp Sergeant Cooperative Community in Merrimack. He was known to many as “Mr. Fix it” and enjoyed helping his neighbors with problems, and was quick to offer a helping hand to all.

He was predeceased by his father, Albert Gallant.

Surviving members of the family include his mother, of Salem, a son, Christopher Gallant, of Los Angeles, Calif., a daughter, Ashley Gallant, of Merrimack, a brother, John Gallant, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a sister, Diane Gilman of Salem, and his former wife Virginia Gallant, of Merrimack.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the George R. Rivet Funeral Home 425 Daniel Webster Highway Merrimack, a funeral service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. A private burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, of Salem.
